Kelsi, Megan, Amy and I left early Friday morning. We made a brief stop at Hubble trading post where Kelsi picked out a $1600 bracelet! Neat history but the shopping was out of our league. Our next stop was for gas in Windowrock. There was a large outdoor market in the parking lot. We found that was more our market. It was the locals opportunity to shop and trade. Megan and I bought a rug from an elderly Navajo man taking a nap with his hat over his face. It was cool! After this stop we drove hard, stopping in Shamrock, Texas. The girls were a little freaked out that the back access to the hotel brought us past "Slaughterhouse" #4.
Saturday, we started out at 8:15. Amy was dropped off in Belleville and we headed home.
It was great to tuck into our own beds!
Thank you for all of your support and prayers!

Final Day at VBS
Thursday morning each of the enrichment groups preformed for the school and us.
Kindergarteners recited a poem about the colors of the rainbow and Gods promise.
The first and second grade preformed a play about the miracle of the seed using handmade puppets.
3rd-5th graders recited the Beatitudes and created "stained glass" crosses.
We're always amazed by what students can do in a short time. All the hard work paid off!
Bubbles were the treat that summed up VBS.

Wednesday
Woo! Another hectic day in Rock Point Arizona!
This morning started out with enrichment classes. Each group had soo much fun playing with the shaving creme! The age groups practiced for their presentation Thursday.
For bible school the kids had lots of fun learning about fishing for men. We were all surprised some knew what fishing was, concidering they don't have much water :)
After those long hours, the group took a walk to Rock Point behind the mission. We do it every year but are still taken away by the landscape.
Market Day!
I think we could open a new jewelry store with all the things we found :) Everything was simply beautiful. Grandmothers shared handmade necklaces, bracelets, anklets, rings, lanyards, vases and many more with us. Though we found many treasures it was nice to help support their way of life. Robyn even found a little baby to hold (of course).

first day of bible school and enrichment
We are exhausted! The enrichment program went well. Each group will be performing on Thursday so we began backdrops, puppets and props today. The sun is smiling and kindergarteners LOVE fingerpaint! It was so enriching for me, as well as, the students. I will never take my education for granted.
The bible school also went well. But as Claire said, "they have a lot of energy".
It has been very special to recognize students and have people recognize us. We really do make an impact here.
We also went to the home of a weaver today. What incredible talent!
Tomorrow is Market Day! You need to have requests in by 5.
We miss you all and look forward to seeing you soon.

Arriving at the Mission
We're Here!
Everyone arrived safe and sound yesterday!! We got apartments assigned and most supplies unpacked. Kylie, Leslie, Bruce, Kelsi, Megan and Jake all made a super spaghetti supper :)
Monday:
This morning many members drove one hour to Canyon DeChelly. Robyn, John, Jessica, Amy, Jake and Megan stayed back and got prepared for bible school and enrichment classes for Tuesday!! Jake and Megan have been playing with fishing poles and whacking each other. John has been talking about fetal pigs (don't ask). We all helped out at the thrift store by putting in a window AC.
After lunch, we went to the Mustang Gas Station across the road. There we did laundry. While waiting, we met "friendly" Eugene! After shaking all our hands, and introducing himself to each and every one of us, Eugene decided that Jake was his best buddy. At this time, we discovered he was a little tipsy... Luckily, he was happy :) Afterwards, Eugene concluded that John and Robyn were married and Jake, Megan, and Amy were siblings. John bought him a burrito. It had beans!
This is just another story to add to our list :)

Travel Days
Scary :)
We all got an early start on Friday! Our car pulled off for a Wild Animal Safari. All of us hand fed ostriches, buffalo, deer, emu, camels, goats, rams, and many more! Most animals chased the vehicle and where happy to help themselves to the food in our laps! It was exciting and terrifying at the same time.
Friday night we arrived in Oklahoma City. Many went to see the Oklahoma Bombing Memorial. It was a sobering experience.
This morning we headed to Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was a long ride but had some short pit-stops and sang silly songs. Along the way we got billions of gorgeous pictures of the mountains. We saw the largest cross in the western hemisphere too. After everyone arrived, we traveled to Sandia Peak. It is the longest tramway in the world! People were stuffed into a little box to zoom upon a bumpy wire. At the top it was super windy and mighty cold. Us girls got a picture by the exact spot that we were struck by lightning!
So far we all have remembered and made new memories. :)

The adventure begins
Megan, Kelsi, Amy and I are spending our first night at Oma and Opa's farm in Mascoutah.
The girls have fed the cows and the cows showed their appreciation by graciously licking them! They were also put to work picking strawberries. We will get an early start to beat St. Louis traffic.
We will be looking for interesting road side attractions to report on tomorrow.
God bless you and keep you!
